Welcome to the 2024 Louise Suggs Junior Girls Invitational Registration Portal. We are very excited to host an event specifically for high school girls and look forward to receiving your application. Our mission for this tournament is to give top junior high school girls the best course and tour caliber experience to help elevate their career to the next level.
In 2022, a dedicated team of volunteers in Carrollton, GA, took the initiative to launch the Louise Suggs Junior Girls Invitational, a golf tournament specifically designed for high school girls. The event is a tribute to the profound impact of professional golfer Louise Suggs on the world of golf, especially for aspiring young female players.
Suggs is embedded in the history of golf at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton, Georgia. Her father, Johnny Suggs, was the first head golf professional at the private 18-hole course and set the tone for the competitive ladies culture there today. Sunset Hills was host club for the LPGA Carrollton Open from 1950-1955. Many of the greats such as Babe Zaharis, Betsy Rawls, and Patty Berg have competed there.
The tournament also honors the memory of Wayne Eidson, a golf enthusiast who, upon retirement, worked at Sunset Hills. Wayne earned a golf scholarship to Polk Junior College and continued to make a mark on the golf scene at the University of Alabama. He later worked on the PGA Tour as a caddy for three years alongside notable players like Mac McLendon, Tommy Aaron, and Bruce Devlin.
Wayne’s strong belief in expanding opportunities for young female golfers was a driving force behind the establishment of this tournament. Thus, the 2024 Louise Suggs Junior Girls Invitational Champion will receive the prestigious Eidson Award.

Luellen’s coaching accomplishments have earned her several honors and she was a four-time All-American during her collegiate career at Tulsa where she recorded 22 top-10 finishes and capped off a stellar career with a two-stroke individual victory at the NCAA Championship, leading the Golden Hurricanes to the national team title.
